TUCSON, Ariz. — Authorities responded to reports of a female migrant being sexually assaulted in the desert near Ajo Tuesday.
The suspect, 33-year-old Antonio Cruz-Morales, was taken into custody by the United States Border Patrol and was then taken to the Tucson station to be interviewed by PCSD.
He was then booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex on two counts of sexual assault, PCSD says.
The female migrant was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
"We are committed and focused in our efforts to combat trans-national crime from occurring in our community and unincorporated areas of Pima County," PCSD said in a statement.
