This week is National Community Policing week. It is a part of a national effort to fortify the bond between police officers and communities.

Pima County Sheriff's deputies have been out all week helping bring the community closer. There are still several events left in the week you can attend.

Pima County Sheriff's kicked off with an event called "Commanders in the Community." Deputies helped the Habitat for Humanity build new homes for Tucson residents. The event brought community members and law enforcement officers together to build affordable homes. The event was a part of a national series of events that aims to kick-start better dialogue between law enforcement and communities. Sheriff's officials want to invite the public to participate in the events going on all week. They want to promote the collaboration of law enforcement and local citizens to prevent crime.
