The Pima County Sheriff's Department responded to a deputy-involved shooting that occurred Wednesday morning.

According to PCSD, deputies responded to reports of an injured man at the Burger King located at 3485 East Ajo Way around 10:00 a.m.

When deputies arrived, they found a man with stab wounds in an active confrontation with a female suspect in the parking lot of the restaurant.

One deputy fired his weapon, striking the woman at least once. The man with stab wounds was 19-years-old. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The woman was identified as 19-year-old Jenitza Romero. She was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound at a local hospital.

After being released, she was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center for domestic violence attempted murder.

The deputy who fired his weapon has been identified as Augustine Gonzalez. He has been a deputy for 18 years.

Deputies are continuing to investigate.
