PCSD: 15-year-old faces murder charges after disturbance on south side

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Pima County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a disturbance involving an altercation near the south side Sunday.

Deputies responded to the area of 3100 block of East Drexel Road around 11 a.m. for a report of a disturbance, PCSD says. Upon arrival, they found a man with life-threatening injuries.

The man was taken to Banner University Medical Center, where he later died, PCSD says.

The man has been identified as 61-year-old Jose Mendoza Martinez.

Detectives responded to the scene to continue the investigation, which led to the arrest of a 15-year-old juvenile.

PCSD says the 15-year-old was taken into custody and charged with First-Degree Murder.

No other details were immediately released.
