Pima County Sheriff's Department said in a news release that the motorcyclist involved in the crash on Catalina Highway has died.
He was identified by PCSD as 26-year-old Alexy Alcantar.
PCSD determined Alcantar had been riding a Kawasaki motorcycle southbound, near milepost 12.5, when he lost control while approaching a curve, the news release said.
The motorcycle went down and slid into a guardrail.
The rider was accompanied by another rider, who provided assistance.
Several off-duty medical professionals, including doctors and firefighters in the area, stopped to assist, as well.
Alcantar was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, the news release said.
He was pronounced dead at just after noon.
Alcantar was wearing full protective riding gear at the time of the crash. Early findings show speed was not a factor, the news release said.
The investigation is ongoing.
