A man has been arrested after he shot his neighbor's dog, according to a news release from the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
On May 21 deputies from the San Xavier district responded to the 3700 block of South Rena Road for a call of shots heard.
As deputies arrived, they learned one of the party's dogs was shot by her neighbor, 57-year-old Marvin Christy, stemming from an ongoing neighbor dispute over the dogs.
Detectives in the Community Problems Unit took over the investigation and found that Christy was a prohibited processor.
A search warrant was then obtained for Christy's residence. Several firearms inside Christy's home were found and seized. His wife, 50-year-old Rebecca Christy, who is also a prohibited possessor, was at the home and was found to be in possession of firearms as well.
Marvin Christy was arrested for possession of a weapon by a prohibited possessor and animal cruelty charges.
Rebecca Christy was arrested for possession of a weapon by a prohibited possessor.
Both have been booked into the Pima County Jail.
The dog that was shot, 3-year-old Blue, sustained non life-threatening injuries. Blue will likely have a limp for the rest of his life and is under care from a veterinarian.
