TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Pima Animal Care Center officials announced they will resume pet adoptions at its shelter starting Nov. 16.
On Nov. 9, PACC suspended it's voluntary pet surrenders due to shelter-related dog illnesses, including distemper and strep.
Since the suspension, officials have successfully isolated all of the possibly exposed dogs into the main shelter to continue their treatment.
The shelter will waive the adoption fee for all pets, including puppies and kittens through Nov. 20 to celebrate restored adoptions.
Pima Animal Care’s free adoption special will apply to all pets, including puppies and kittens who normally carry a $50 adoption fee.
In addition to the waived adoption fee, all adopted pets will come spayed or neutered, with up-to-date vaccinations, microchipped, and a free vet visit.
PACC is located at 4000 N. Silverbell Road, but free adoptions will also extend to the five participating PetSmart locations.
- PetSmart Oracle & Wetmore, 4374 N. Oracle Rd.
- PetSmart Grant & Swan, 4740 E. Grant Rd.
- PetSmart El Con, 3695 E. Broadway Blvd.
- PetSmart Irvington & I-19, 1175 W. Irvington Rd.
While the shelter has restored adoptions, its voluntary pet surrenders from owners will remain on hold until the week of Nov. 21-25.
