The Pima Animal Care Center received a more than half million dollar grant from Maddie's Fund.
Maddie's Fund is a family foundation dedicated to helping animals in shelters by awarding grants "toward increased community lifesaving, shelter medicine education, and pet adoptions across the U.S.," according to the Maddie's Fund web page.
PACC says it plans to use the money to expand its foster program.
The program will be called a, "A Foster Home for Every Pet."
PACC hopes this will help save animal's lives by taking them away from a shelter environment.
The program is expected to start later this year.
