This Independence Day Pacc officials want to give shelter dogs the feeling of freedom.

A walk is scheduled from 6 to 8 a.m. at PACC's shelter at 4000 N. Silverbell Road.

Participants have until July 2nd to sign up and walk a dog.

Pacc is only accepting 100 dog walkers, and all volunteers must be older than 16.

Walkers will also have the opportunity to adopt their new friend.

Fees will range from $0 - $50.

Although the shelter is closed for the holiday, PACC will offer participants the opportunity to adopt their new walking buddy during this event. Adoption fees range between $0 to $50 and include the pets spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchip, and a free vet visit, too.

PACC staff will also have information on fostering opportunities for dog walkers who love their walking buddy, but just can’t commit to adopting them. PACC’s Homeward Hounds foster program helps medium and large dogs, over 35 pounds, get a much-needed break from shelter life by setting them up with a temporary home.
