TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say two women who own a Tempe medical clinic have been arrested for allegedly running a pill mill.

They say Dr. Jelina Ip and her mother face charges of fraudulent schemes, illegally conducting an enterprise, illegal administration of a narcotic and illegal administration of a dangerous drug.

Drug Enforcement Administration officials say Jelina Ip and Alane Ip allegedly abused prescription privileges and pushing out significant quantities of prescriptions for both oxycodone and morphine.

Investigators found the clinic issued prescriptions for more than 1.6 million doses over an 18-month span including 1.4 million for opioids.

The investigation began in October 2017, a search warrant was served in June 2018 and a raid was conducted last week.

The DEA suspended Jelina Ip's ability to prescribe controlled substances after an initial investigation.
