Oro Valley police suspend, evaluate HiVE program

Posted

Oro Valley police are suspending their High Visibility Enforcement (HiVE) program.

For the past three years, police have cracked down on dangerous intersections with several motorcycle units in an effort to raise driver awareness and make the intersections safer.

Lt. Chris Olson confirmed the program has no further HiVE events scheduled. However, that does not mean it's the end of the program.

"HiVE program is not on its way out," he said. "We had always said that we would have the program for three years and then evaluate its effectiveness using crash data. I plan to evaluate the program over the next month to measure its effectiveness and to see if any changes need to be made."
