Victim identified in deadly Oro Valley crash

ORO VALLEY, Ariz. — The Oro Valley Police Department has identified the victim of a deadly crash that occurred on Saturday night.

OVPD responded to reports about of a two vehicle crash near Moore Road and Zircon Lane around 9 p.m.

When officers arrived, they located one man outside a vehicle, and one woman trapped inside the other vehicle.

The woman, identified as 19-year-old Maya Smith Dolana, was declared dead on the scene.

"Minutes before the crash, Smith Dolana left a babysitting job and was driving her Toyota Prius westbound on Moore Road. She crossed over into oncoming traffic and collided with a GMC 4X4 truck. It is unknown what caused her to leave her lane of travel," OVPD said in a press release.

The man was taken to Banner University Medical Center.

OVPD determined there was no signs of impairment from the man, and no citations were issued.
