TUCSON, Ariz. - A group of Oro Valley fifth graders will learn about the dangers of drug use during the 11th annual Drug Awareness Day event on Friday.

The Oro Valley Police Department teamed up with Fry’s Food Stores, Chick-fil-A, Oro Valley Optimist Club, and the Kyle Franks Foundation to put on the event at Cañada Del Oro Riverfront Park.

The students will be entering middle school next year, and that's when police say most drug use or experimentation begins.

This year, students wrote an essay on the topic "I choose to dream drug free," the essay winners will be announced Friday and prizes will be handed out.
