After identifying two people of interest in a homicide investigation, Tucson police have arrested two men.
Detectives have been investigating the death of 25-year-oldJimmainMiddleton found with fatal injuries in the 3600 block of E. Ellington Pl.
Detectives conducted interviews and were able to identify two persons of interest in the case. One of the persons has been identified as 25-year-old Alexis Noe Medina-Luna. The second person has been identified as 30-year-old Adan Jesus Medina.
Around 7:30 p.m. the night of the homicide, officers responded to the 700 block of W. Valencia Rd. regarding a fight that began inside a home but had moved into the street. The fight involved Medina-Luna and an adult male family member. The fight ended when the family member was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
When officers arrived on the scene, they observed an adult male family member with obvious signs of trauma. Paramedics transported the man to a local area hospital with serious injuries.
Detectives responded to the Valencia Rd. scene to further that investigation.
Alexis Medina-Luna was arrested for Domestic Violence/Aggravated Assault with a Dangerous Instrument and Domestic Violence/Aggravated Assault. He was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail that evening and later released.
Adan Jesus Medina has been arrested for first-degree murder and was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail.
The family member remains in the hospital.
During the investigation, the two detective units learned Medina-Luna and the adult male family member had been in the area where Middleton was located, and the family member was suspected of vandalizing mailboxes.
Middleton made contact with both men, and a fight began where Middleton sustained fatal injuries.
Medina-Luna and the family member fled the scene.
Working together, the two detective units were able to develop probable cause to arrest Medina-Luna for 1st Degree Murder related to the death of Jimmain Middleton.
Officers located and arrested Medina-Luna without incident.
The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are asking anyone with information to please call 911 or 88-CRIME.
