A Flash Flood Warning has been issued on the Tohono O'odham Nation until 12:15 a.m. Wednesday because of an imminent dam failure near the Menagers Dam community.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said emergency management continues to report rising water in the Menagers Lake with the lake level within one foot of overflowing.

Immediate evacuation of the Menagers Dam community is strongly advised as there is uncertainty over the integrity of the dam as heavy rain continues to fall.

The Tohono O'odham Department of Public Safety said Menagers Dam residents need to move as far to the north end of the community as possible.

Community members should avoid the area for the next 24 hours.

The Nation’s Executive Office is preparing an emergency declaration for the affected areas.

Flooding in the area has made the area road impassable and air access has been limited due to weather conditions.
