UPDATE: I-19 crash involved man who was struck, killed while changing tire

UPDATE 4:29 p.m.:

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the crash involved a 60-year-old man from Tucson who was struck and killed by a driver while he was changing a tire.

Two others, including the at-fault driver, were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, DPS said.

UPDATE 2:36 p.m.:

Interstate 19 has reopened, according to ADOT.

UPDATE 12:15 P.M.

According to Drexel Heights Fire District (DHFD), five vehicles were involved in the crash, and one caught fire.

One person has died and four people were transported to the hospital for evaluation, said DHFD, but one person did not want to be transported there.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating this crash. I-19 will be closed for an undetermined amount of time.

Northbound Interstate 19 is closed at milepost 56 near San Xavier Road, due to a crash, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Arizona Department of Public Safety said the crash was fatal and involved multiple vehicles.

Drivers should avoid the area.
