PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix area firefighters have fully extinguished a brush fire that was started by a remote control airplane.

Fire Capt. Rob McDade said Monday that crews worked overnight to stomp out hot spots.

The blaze broke out Sunday afternoon in the desert in north Phoenix near a runway used for model airplanes.

He says someone reported the fire started after his remote control model airplane crashed. It was further fueled by high winds and brush.

Crews from multiple cities and wildland firefighters from other agencies had the fire mostly contained a few hours later.
