A Nogales police officer has been arrested and charged with drug offenses, according to a news release from NPD.
Officer Danitza Hernandez was arrested by agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration in Tucson on June 1. Nogales Police says the arrest happened while Hernandez was off-duty.
She is facing two felony counts of Illegal Possession of Narcotics and Use of an Electronic Device during a Drug Transaction.
Hernandez was arrested and has been booked into the Pima County Jail by the Tucson Police Department.
Sgt. Robert Fierros of NPD says Hernandez has been with Nogales Police since September 2009. She has been placed on administrative suspension pending further information from the DEA.
NPD says that they are fully cooperating with the DEA in this investigation.
