For the last 10 years, the Nogales Fire Department had a medical helicopter stationed at Holy Cross Hospital.
Recently, the company in charge of the medical helicopters decided to remove the helicopter named, Arizona Lifeline 3, from Holy Cross Hospital.
Now, NFD says the nearest medical helicopter is in Tubac. They say it will add a few more minutes for the helicopter to arrive to the scene wherever in town they are located.
Depending on the emergency, Nogales Fire says the patient will be transported to the nearest hospital by ambulance or they will decide to wait for the medical helicopter to arrive.
Since 2008 there has been a medical helicopter in Nogales, AZ.
