TUCSON, Ariz. - April 27 marks one year since Nogales Police Department Jesus M. Cordova was killed.
The officer was killed in the line of duty while investigating a carjacking.
Now, the community in Nogales is coming together one year later to remember the officer.
Members of local law enforcement agencies formed the Jesus M. Cordova Memorial Foundation, now a non-profit.
The non-profit will not only raise money for Officer Cordova's family but it will also raise money for the community.
The foundation is hosting the second ever Jesus M. Cordova Softball Tournament.
The tournament will kick-off on Friday, April 26 at Fletcher Park. The main event will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 9 a.m.
The Nogales Police Department will also be honoring Officer Cordova on Saturday, April 27 by dedicating a plaque in his name at City Hall.
At 11 a.m. NPD will have a motorcycle procession in Officer Cordova's honor, according to his wife Alyssa Cordova.
The public is welcome to attend any of the scheduled events.
