PHOENIX - Mesa police say nobody was injured when a Phoenix police officer shot at a man trying to force his way into a passerby's vehicle early Thursday morning.

Mesa police spokesman Nik Rasheta says the incident began in Phoenix where police tried to pull over the man's speeding vehicle and it ended in Mesa after officers used tire-flattening devices to stop on a U.S. 60 exit ramp.

Rasheta says a Phoenix office fired when man got out and tried to force his way into a pickup truck traveling on Country Club Drive. Rasheta says the man wasn't hit and and was arrested when he jumped into the pickup's bed.

No identities were released.
