In an effort to help first responders in an emergency, a new Public Service Announcement campaign is now airing on the radio.

The campaign was created by University of Arizona graduate students in the School of Government and Public Policy, along with help from the Drexel Heights Fire District.

According to Steven Braun, a student on the project and a dispatcher at the Valley Emergency Communications Center, the most important information you can convey to an operator is your location, preferably an address.

"That's the key piece of information that we need when they call," said Braun. "We need to know where to send the responders. The faster we can get that information, the faster we can process the call and dispatch the units."

Other topics in the campaign focus on remaining calm while calling 9-1-1 and understanding that you will likely talk to multiple dispatchers and have to repeat information.
