TUCSON, Ariz. - Just like new years resolutions, new laws going into effect in the new year are inevitable.

In 2020 an array of new laws will be going into effect in Arizona.

In the new school year in 2020 teachers in grades 6th through 12th will have to go through a special training meant to help them detect suicidal behavior in students.

Governor Doug Ducey signed this bill into law in 2019 after a high school student in Phoenix took his own life back in 2017.

Another new law going into effect has to do with the Motor Vehicle Division of the Arizona Department of Transportation.

In 2020, you will no longer be able to get documents like your vehicle registration and license plate in person at MVD offices. Instead those documents will be mailed to you.

However, temporary documents will still be given in person to ensure you're able to continue driving your vehicle.

Medical marijuana in Arizona will also be looked at closely in 2020.

In the new year how people get opioid prescriptions in Arizona will also be changing. Doctors will no longer be giving out paper prescriptions, instead the process will be done electronically.
