TUCSON, Ariz. - Students are starting a new school year at the University of Arizona on Monday, August 26.
This year, students will enjoy new housing options, new courses and resources, and updates to existing construction projects.
Students at the Honors College will for the first time be living in the same building.
"For the first time honors college students are in a single residence hall with administrative offices, classrooms, dining, event spaces, right next to a new rec center. This is state of the art residential college," said Terry Hunt, the Dean for the Honors College.
The new Honors Village building is across from a new recreation center. The Housing Village has a dining hall inside, both dorm-style and apartment-style rooms and arcade games.
Professors for the Honors College also have their offices inside of the Honors Village building, giving students better access to those professors.
Another new resource for students at the University of Arizona is found near the center of campus.
The new Student Success District is located near the Main Library and will offer students an array of resources.
"The student success district is bringing a whole constellation of services, spaces, expertise to enabel UA students to be successful right in the heart of campus," said Shan Sutton, the Dean of UA Libraries.
The district will include what UA officials are calling "CATalyst studios". The studios will have Augment and Virtual Reality devices, 3-D Printers, design equipment and much more.
UA officials said the idea behind the student success district is to level the playing field for all students, giving them access to all equipment they might need.
