A new luxury theatre in the east side of Tucson will be having their grand opening on Thursday, Nov. 1.

TheGalaxy Luxury Theatre is located near Broadway Boulevard and Houghton Road.The theater is the first of it's kind in Arizona and was opened in the east side because of the promise seen in the area, according to the marketing director for Galaxy Theatres.

"This is our first theater in Arizona and we chose this location for a reason. We see tremendous growth in the Tucson area, especially on the east side and so we're really glad to bring this kind of experience to the residents out here on the east side and we hope everyone will come and enjoy," said Michelle Reder, the marketing director for Galaxy Theatres.

Those with the theater are also hoping the new attraction entices people to travel to the east side as well as new businesses to follow in their footsteps and set up shop on that side of town.
"Well, it's just great for the east side. It lowers commutes, it relieves traffic issues, it also makes use of some of the new infrastructure progress we've made on the east side, the east Broadway project and the Houghton project are both a part of that and I think that's what makes this new business so special," said Paul Cunningham, the council member representing Ward 2.
