Nearly 200 people, including criminals and previously deported immigrants, were arrested in a recent multiple law enforcement agency sweep.
During a seven-day joint operation, led by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, troopers and agents targeted crime in the desert southwest of Tucson.
Members of U.S. Customs and Border Patrol also assisted in the operation.
According to DPS Captain Damon Cecil, more than $2,000,000 worth of marijuana was seized.
Operation partners are continuing to pursue leads into both illegal alien and drug smuggling organizations operating throughout the area.
“These coordinated efforts leverage the capabilities and jurisdictional authorities of federal, state, and local law enforcement to dismantle criminal networks,” explained Frank Milstead, director of Arizona Department of Public Safety.
