Northwest Fire units responded to a house in the 5700 block of west Cortaro Crossing Drive for a report of a 16-month-old boy who had been found in an above ground pool by his parents.
The parents said that the boy had been inside and seen playing less than 5 minutes prior to finding him in the pool according to Brian Keeley of Northwest Fire.
It looks like the child may have used the dog door to access the backyard where the pool is.
The parents said that the ladder to the pool is usually removed but that it was left in after using the pool earlier today.
Both parents are CPR trained and revived the child with CPR before Northwest Fire arrived.
The child is currently in serious but stable condition.
Northwest Fire wants to remind everyone of the ABC’s of drowning prevention. (A)ctive adult supervision, (B)arriers around every pool, (C)PR training for all adults and teenagers. The parent’s early activation of CPR was crucial to the lifesaving efforts.
