The Navajo Nation is breaking ground on a travel center at its casino east of Flagstaff.

Tribal lawmakers finalized a $10 million loan agreement for development and construction earlier this year. The money comes from a fund established through a 2014 settlement of a lawsuit that alleged the federal government mismanaged the tribe's natural resources.

Plans for the travel center include a convenience store, gas station and truck service station near the Twin Arrows Casino, about 25 miles outside Flagstaff. The groundbreaking is scheduled Thursday.

The tribe opened the casino in 2013. It's the largest of four Navajo casinos in Arizona and New Mexico.

The tribe's reservation is the largest in the country and also stretches into southern Utah.
