TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — A narcotics operation in a shopping center near Campbell and Irvington led to an officer-involved shooting, Monday afternoon around 1:30.

The parking lot where Bank of America, Cricket and Verizon stand was surrounded with caution tape and multiple law enforcement agencies.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) confirmed through a statement that shots were fired during the operation. Two suspects are in custody and the scene is secured with no danger to the public, the statement said.

Tucson Police Department (TPD) assisted the DEA in the operation, but were not involved in the shooting or investigation, it confirmed.

We did check TPD’s newest “Real Time Event Tracker” which shows several 911 calls placed in the area.

There appears to be two scenes. The one at Campbell and Irvington and the other at M&M’s Saloon on Benson Highway. DEA agents and the Pima County Sheriff's deputies were on scene.

The DEA says this remains an active investigation and will not make any additional comments at this time.
