UPDATE: Arizona Department of Transportation says both westbound lanes of I-10 at Cortaro have reopened.
Brian Keeley of Northwest Fire Department says there were two separate incidents involving six cars in total. The accident shutdown the overpass on westbound I-10 at Cortaro Road.
In the first accident there was a rollover that involved three cars. The three people in the first accident were not injured.
In a separate incident a quarter mile behind the first, there was another accident that involved three cars. Of the five people involved in the second accident, three were not injured, one person was evaluated but chose not to be transported to the hospital and one person was transported to the hospital by ground.
Department of Public Safety troopers are investigating the cause of both accidents.
