Mt. Lemmon Highway reopens with restrictions

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — UPDATED 5:30 p.m.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department says the Mt. Lemmon Highway has reopened to vehicles with all-wheel-drive, four-wheel-drive, or chains.

Drivers are cautioned there may still be icy conditions on the roadway.

Before heading up, driver's are urged to call PCSD's road condition hotline for the latest at (520) 351-3351.

The road to Mt. Lemmon is currently closed due to hazardous conditions, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department. Only residents and employees will be granted access at this time.

Up in Summerhaven, theMt. Lemmon Hotel shared images of empty streets via social media, saying the area looked like a "ghost town."
