Police identify motorcyclist who died in wreck

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Police identified a man who died in a motorcycle wreck Monday night.

Police say 35-year-old motorcyclist Damian Whitelow died after he was hit by a truck near East 22nd STreet and South Turquoise Vista at 7:30 p.m.

The driver of the truck , who stayed on scene, was unharmed.

Police say Whitelow rode a 2003 Honda motorcycle eastbound on 22nd Street at a high rate of speed. The driver of a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado truck was going westbound on 22nd and making a southbound turn onto South Turquoise Vista. Whitelow hit the side of the truck, and his motorcycle caught fire. 
 
Witnesses put out the fire. Whitelow was not wearing a helmet. Investigators are determining whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the wreck.
 
The truck driver showed no signs of impairment. The motorcycle had been reported as stolen.
