A mother and her four children have been displaced after their Rita Ranch home caught fire this evening around 6 p.m.

Tucson firefighters found smoke coming from a bedroom window of a house fire near E Stonehaven Way and E. Esmond Loop.

According to TFD, the fire was isolated to the closet in the bedroom and a neighbor was using their garden hose to spray water through the bedroom window.

TFD officials say the homeowner was not in her house when the fire started. However, the homeowner's mother and her four children ranging from three to nine years old were inside the house when they heard the smoke alarm go off.

Everyone, including the family cat, was able to safely exit the house. No one was injured.

The mother and her four children who were will be staying with family.

According to TFD, the Red Cross has been contacted to assist the family of five.
