A monsoon storm southeast of Phoenix caused a lot of damage in the San Tan Valley area Wednesday night.

The rural area near Arizona Farms Road and Hunt Highway was hit by a likely microburst, snapping power poles and even tearing the roof off a home.

According to the Salt River Project that provides electricity to this area, a total of 50 power poles came down, knocking out power to 2,500 customers.

As of Thursday morning, only a couple dozen customers were still without power but crews worked all day to repair the broken poles.

A home off Attaway Road in the community of Magma Ranch also suffered severe damage from the storm. The single story home lost its roof and nearly every window was broken.

The family of four that lives in the home wasn't there at the time according to a neighbor. The same neighbor told 9OYS the family works on the nearby farms.

The storm also crumpled and threw a metal awning that covered hay bales across a nearby field.
