UCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Some people do not heed the call of the Black Friday bargains. When others head to the stores, they head the other way.

Ventana Canyon Trail can be quiet, contemplative---far removed from Black Friday stores in body and mind.

Severin Campbell had just come off the trail when she told us, “This is really peaceful and really beautiful and really exceptional.  I would recommend it to anyone.”

KGUN9 reporter Craig Smith asked her: “That peaceful part; how do you think that compares to the experience other people are having?”

Campbell: “Well, I assume they're not having a peaceful time."

Members of the Pena family decided they'd rather fish in Lakeside Park than fish for bargains in a crowded store.

Arthur Pena says, “It's fun, quiet, peaceful.  Haven't gone fishing in years so, just come out and have a good time."

It's not as if the family's never stormed through a store.

Arthur Pena Junior remembered a previous year’s foray into Black Friday stores.

"There's a lot of crazy people. I stayed up until 2am.  It was hectic.”

Craig Smith asked: “Once you've done that once or twice that was enough for you?”

Arthur Jr: “Yeah."
