Hundreds of people gathered in Armory Park Tuesday with the #RedforEd campaign in mind.
Teachers and faculty members at the event say they want to be able to provide the best they can for their students while also receiving the proper compensation.
Our public school employees have had their backs against the walls, our communities have been defunded so constantly and chronically over the last 10 years by this governor and this legislature. The May Day coalition which is a coalition of approximately 12 community organizations decided that we had to stand in solidarity, said Paul Smith of the Pima Area Labor Federation.
Teachers that spoke with KGUN9 say they want their students to know they didn't walk out on them. Their goal is to reach an agreement soon so they can return to the classroom.
