U.S. Marshals tracked down a fugitive sex offender who was on the run from North Carolina Wednesday.
The Arizona WANTED Violent Offender Task Force arrested 31-year-old Marcus Schopfer Von Stolz in Tucson.
Von Stolz was wanted on charges of first degree sex offense with a child, indecent liberties with a child, first degree kidnapping and sexual battery.
A University of North Carolina student, Von Stolz was working as a security guard in Chapel Hill, N.C. when he allegedly assaulted a girl he escorted to a bathroom. After his October 2015 arrest, he skipped out on a $750,000 bond. Later, officials accused him of manufacturing child pornography.
Marshals say Von Stolz was hiding out in the 4600 block of N. Rockcliff Road. Marshals arrested him at a nearby gas station. North Carolina has requested Von Stolz to be extradited back to the state.
