PHOENIX (AP) — A personnel board for Maricopa County has upheld a decision to fire a prosecutor who won convictions in the Jodi Arias murder case in Phoenix after he allegedly retaliated against women accusing him of harassment.

The Arizona Republic reported that the Maricopa County Merit Systems Commission voted unanimously Tuesday, upholding the decision to fire Juan Martinez in February.

Martinez was accused of filing complaints against two women involved in an internal investigation in late 2017 and 2018 that found Martinez made inappropriate sexual comments going back a decade. Arias is serving a life sentence after her first-degree murder conviction in the 2008 killing of her boyfriend Travis Alexander.
