UPDATE (12:36 p.m., April 24):

Two suspects have been arrested in the attempted carjacking case that took place at the Tucson Premium Outlet Mall Thursday morning.

According to a news release from Marana Police Department, 18-year-old Austyn Spurlock and 21-year-old Arturo Gonzales were arrested on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault, one count of armed robbery and one count of theft of means of transportation.

According to the news release, the victim, who had a 2025 Ford Mustang, was confronted by a male pointing a rifile at him in the parking lot of the outlet mall. The suspect's male accomplice was nearby when the assault was taking place. The armed suspect was unable to start the Mustang. The suspect and his accomplice then fled the scene in their own vehicle, a Chevy Impala, the news release said.

Marana Police officers determined there were two women on scene who were also suspects, the news release said.

The investigation showed that the male suspects and the women were arguing. One round was fired during the altercation, but no one was struck or injured. When the two male suspects fled the scene, they left behind the women.

Marana Police worked with Tucson Police to locate the suspects and the suspect vehicle at a home near East 36th Street and South Kino Parkway.

A warrant was served at the residence, evidence of the crime was located and Spurlock and Gonzales were taken into custody, the news release said.

The investigation is ongoing.
