TUCSON, Ariz. -- Tucson Police are investigating a shooting that happened in a parking lot near Wilmot and Broadway, across from Park Place.

Sgt. Pete Dugan says police got a call just after 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. He says there were several people outside in the parking lot when a vehicle pulled up. He says a man got out of the vehicle and pointed a handgun at one man in the parking lot. The suspect then shot the victim, hitting him in the leg.

Police say the suspect then got back inside the car and headed westbound down Broadway Boulevard. Police believe there were other people inside the car, in addition to the suspect. Police also believe, after witness statements and evidence gathered so far, this shooting was an isolated incident.

The victim was taken to the hospital with what appears to be non-life threatening injuries.

Officers are working to learn what happened by speaking with the several witnesses who were in the parking lot when the shooting happened. If anyone has any information, you are asked to call 88-crime or 911.
