DREXEL HEIGHTS, Ariz. — Drexel Heights Fire District and law enforcement responded to a house fire between Valencia and Bilby roads Monday.
Fire crews were called to a double-wide house in the area of 6000 South Speaks Trail around 2:00 p.m.
DHFD says a 60-year-old man woke up to his house on fire.
The man attempted to extinguish the fire and rescue his animals. He was injured in the midst of the fire.
Pima County Sheriff's deputies sprayed him with a garden hose as fire crews arrived.
DHFD says he was burned with serious injuries.
The man was taken to Banner University Medical Center.
