A man is dead after a fatal pedestrian collision near E. Prince Rd. and N. Martin Ave. on Monday night.

Tucson Fire Department responded to a call involving a pedestrian and a minivan just after 8:15 p.m.

Paramedics were the first to arrive at the scene and immediately began giving aid to the pedestrian, 66-year-old David Rhoades. Rhoades was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a Tucson Police Department media release, the driver of the beige 2004 Oldsmobile minivan was not injured at remained at the scene.

After investigating, TPD detectives determined that the minivan driver was headed westbound on Prince Rd. in the curb lane.

According to TPD, Rhoades was hit while crossing Prince Rd. from south to north. He was not in or near the crosswalk.

Neither speed nor alcohol appears to be a factor in this collision related to the minivan driver, according to a TPD media release.

No citations have been issued at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
