Police have identified the victim of a fatal collision that occurred near the intersection of West River Road and North Samantha Grove Drive just before midnight on Nov. 10.
Officers arrived on scene to discover a 1993 Honda Accord had collided into a tree and transported the unconscious driver to Banner Medical Center with serious injuries.
The front seat passenger, 27-year-old Paul Costello, was pronounced dead at the scene.
TPD detectives have collected roadway evidence and determined that the Accord was going south on River Road and struck the tree on the passenger side, killing Costello.
The driver, who has yet to be identified, was displaying signs of impairment to officers on scene. The driver is still in the hospital in serious condition and no charges have been filed, per TPD.
The investigation is ongoing.
