TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Jarrad Barnes, 24, entered a not guilty plea before Pima County Superior Court Judge Roads on Wednesday.
Barnes was arrested and indicted in connection with the deadly vehicle collision that killed former Pima County Board of Supervisor, Ann Day.
The fatal collision happened on May 7, at Ina Road and Westward Look. Deputies responded to the accident at 7:42 a.m.
When they arrived Day was being tended to by civilians on scene. A battalion chief from Northwest Fire transported her to the hospital where she was pronounced dead at 8:37 a.m.
PCSD says a black sedan was going westbound on Ina at a high rate of speed and was driving erratically. The sedan was bouncing off of curbs and crossed the center median and struck Day's Prius head on.
Barnes faces several charges including manslaughter and driving under the influence.
The next hearing for Barnes is schedule for June 27 at 9 a.m.
