TUCSON, Ariz. — Holiday shopping is in full swing, and today is Small Business Saturday.
KGUN9 went around town to see why our local shops think small businesses are so important.
The Saturday after Thanksgiving a holiday of its own.
Small Business Saturday is a way for locals to focus on shopping at their local businesses and spend some of those holiday shopping dollars locally.
It's also a day that can help newer small businesses get on the map; like Bosn's Buch.
Bosn's Buch owner Jocph Myers said "Small businesses are critical to the infrastructure. All of our taxes dollars and everywhere we go we're here, just like the big businesses. I try to be able to compete with prices of big business being a small business, because i want to bring a good product to Tucson."
Good products, and a special touch only local businesses can provide.
Small Business Saturday shopper Christine Zinder said "They know what the people need, they live here, they're apart of the community. whatever they earn goes back into the community."
At the Green Monkey everything in the store is discounted.
The boutique says the deals are a "thank you" to its customers for making it the business it is.
The Green Monkey Boutique sales Ronnie Day said "Small business is really important. if we don't have these small businesses, then there's no place to walk on a saturday, like you see everyone doing here. there's no place to gather as a community."
Some businesses may be extending their deals through the weekend, so be sure to check with specific stores.
Next on the holiday shopping spree is Cyber Monday.
