Local Red Cross volunteers flew to Mississippi and Georgia Tuesday morning to help families affected by the deadly tornadoes there.

More than two dozen people have been killed in storms across the south.

Members of the Red Cross in Tucson will be volunteering in the disaster zones to provide basic supplies to families who lost their homes and belongings.

"These towns have been devastated, completely wiped out, so again what we will look to do is provide shelter to people who have no houses and everything's been destroyed and of course sheltering and food to the areas," Ronald Scott, a Red Cross volunteer told KGUN9.

Tucson volunteers will also go through neighborhoods to assess the damage and help families get financial help.
