TUCSON, Ariz. — One local non-profit, AZ K9 Heroes goes the extra mile to send the K9's off right once they retire.
The organization relies solely on donations to supply health care coverage not available to the dogs once they leave the force.
The mission is to raise money for working and retired K9's. The money helps the handlers and their dogs for any needs that may not be covered by the department.
The money raised also goes to K9's that have retired and have no vet insurance.
