TUCSON, Ariz. — Toys were delivered by Santa to more than 2,500 Tucson kids for the 17th annual Miracle en el Barrio Friday.

The event was started in 2002 to provide children with toys in Tucson's South side during the holidays.

Miracle en el Barrio has expanded into the largest toy donation drive by a private business, according to NOVA Home Loans.

Miracle founders Steve Nunez and Jon Volpe said "If you can see the smile on these kid's face when they get that toy from Santa Claus, that's what makes it special. It's the smile on the kids face."

In the last 17 years NOVA Home Loans has given away more than 36,000 toys to our local families in need.

Several other local businesses gave away food, and certificates for services at the event.
