La Frontera & Beauty Lounge team up to give makeovers to teen girls in foster care

Two local groups teamed up December 20th to give foster care girls the makeover of their lives.

La Frontera is an organization that deals with substance abuse and mental health issues. They also facilitate foster care services for kids and teens.

They teamed up with Beauty Lounge Tucson to give some of the foster kids in the organization an early Christmas gift.

The mini-makeovers for the 10 girls included new haircuts and styles, manicures, and pedicures.

A manager from Beauty Lounge said it's important for the girls to feel just as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside.

"It's important for everybody to feel beautiful," Angelina Sanchez said. "I think that beauty lies within, and I think that it's a very cruel world that we live in."

Sanchez told KGUN 9 makeovers are about lifting the stigma off of people and letting them see their true beauty.

"We'd like for everybody to know that 'you are beautiful, no matter how you may look or the stigma you might have."

As well as makeovers the teens got a catered lunch and some relaxation time.

Each teen also took home a basket of necessities provided by beauty lounge.
