Pima County government was proud to offer incentives to keep a space tourism business in the Tucson area.
Now a court ruling says the county broke state law with its incentives and the building built for World View Enterprises may have to be offered to the highest bidder.
Pima County Superior Court Catherine Woods has struck down Pima County's contract with World View Enterprises.
According to a media release from the Goldwater Institute, which sued the county, the contract would have required taxpayers to foot the bill for a new facility.
Pima County was required to have the building appraised, hold a public auction, among other requirements, according to the Goldwater Institute
The requirements were ignored, and the contract with World View has been canceled, according to the Goldwater Institute.
At this time, Pima County will not comment on the ruling until county administration reviews the ruling and discuss it with the Board of Supervisors in executive session at the Feb. 7 meeting.
